PDA Interest Groups

The purpose of the Supply Chain Management Interest Group (IG) is to bring together professionals to openly discuss their issues and concerns, lessons learned, and best practices regarding the increasing complexity of the material supply chain. Suppliers of raw and manufactured materials to biotech and pharmaceutical companies and drug manufacturers are challenged by an increasing difficulty in ensuring quality supply of materials and components, excipients, APIs, intermediates, and finished goods. Furthermore, the integrity of the (temperature-controlled) supply chain is challenged by instances of sub-standard manufacturing, inadequate business and process controls, as well as complex storage, handling, distribution activities and international counterfeiting. The Supply Chain Management IG offers its members the opportunity to influence the suppliers of the pharmaceutical and biotech industry to develop requirements that meet the needs of the industry in the areas of material quality, continuous improvement efforts, supply chain security, temperature control and the digitalization of supplier/customer business partnerships. This group and all other PDA Interest Groups are designed to spark information exchange, actionable solutions and networking among peers who have shared challenges and interests.
