News Brief: U.S. FDA Head Makary Says Severity of FDA Layoff Overstated
In an interview with Politico’s The Conversation on July 27, U.S. FDA Commissioner Martin Makary says personnel
reductions at the Agency has amounted to only around 2000 individuals. He noted that there was consolidation in areas like HR, IT, communications and travel departments. He asserted that no science reviewer or inspector was released as part of the
reduction in force, “contrary to some of the headlines that have been out there.”
