Award Winner (Outstanding Early Career Professional Award) 2024: Carl Bermingham
Carl Bermingham
(NIBRT) National Institute for Bioprocessing Research and Training
This award means a lot to me. I’m really invested in supporting Early Career Professionals, particularly with the current climate being so competitive with respect to employment opportunities and career advancement. I volunteered to lead the ECP committee in Ireland out of genuine interest in the cause and without any expectations of recognition. So, to receive an award for this work is really unexpected and I’m extremely grateful.
In my current role at NIBRT, we train and support the biopharmaceutical workforce globally to ensure the highest standards for drug manufacturing are adhered to, to provide effective treatment to vulnerable patients worldwide. This award highlights the importance of early career professionals in the future growth and success of the biopharmaceutical industry. By supporting those entering the workforce, we can ensure patients continue to receive the highest standard of treatment and ensure the continued advancement of available treatments. I’m committed to continuing to keep early career professionals as a focus of my work.
Industry recognition is important because it highlights the value of investing time and effort in the development or support of the industry itself, our patients, and our global workforce. It’s important to recognize the efforts of individuals in this space to encourage others to follow suit.
I love my current role as Bioprocessing Training Manager at NIBRT. It’s exciting to be at the cutting edge of industry advancements and to be able to provide world-class training to clients both locally and across the globe. With a global reach currently across five continents, NIBRT is at the forefront of the biopharmaceutical industry and the training of our global biopharmaceutical workforce, and this is a really rewarding space to be able to contribute to in my daily work.
I’m inspired by helping others. Whether that’s advancing my own team of expert bioprocessing trainers or being part of the biopharmaceutical manufacturing training of industry staff or university students, I find it rewarding to see someone develop their knowledge and skills. And then for that knowledge and skills to be applied to an excellent cause like the health of ill patients, there’s nothing more inspiring!
