Glass Breakage Analysis and Fractography

Jul 21 - Jul 23, 2020
Indianapolis, IN

  • Education
  • The Americas

Overview

Glass breakage analysis and Fractography are important tools for identifying and resolving the cause for failure of glasses and other brittle materials. The science of Fractography analyzes fracture surfaces in order to pinpoint fracture origins and may also provide quantitative information regarding the amount of load present at the moment of failure, which makes it a useful tool for glass breakage investigations. The information gained by a proper, scientific analysis not only helps to identify why something has broken but may also help in the design of glass handling processes that will prevent the types of damage that lead to future failures.

During this training course, attendees will learn how to conduct investigations, using microscopes and other available tools, to determine the root causes of glass-related deviations. Attendees will also evaluate glass-related issues involving existing or proposed manufacturing processes and equipment lines and identify where glass defects are found and how they are created within the pharmaceutical supply chain.
