Sigrid Saaler-Reinhardt graduated in Biochemistry at the Free University of Berlin in the early 80th, showing currently 20 years of academic research and 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. In 1989, she moved to the Johannes Gutenberg-University Mainz, where she headed the Cell Biology Department of the Institute of Physiological Chemistry, Faculty of Medicine. In 1994, she was awarded the Boehringer Ingelheim Prize for Medical Research. In 1997, she habilitated at the Institute of Genetics of the Faculty of Biology at the JGU Mainz.
Furthermore, she graduated as a patent officer for intellectual property from the FH Hagen. Until today, she offers a course for students in the biology master's program on the topic "Patent know-how in the biotech field of therapeutics" at the Biology Faculty of the JGU Mainz.
In 2006 she started to work for the German pharmaceutical company Midas Pharma, with responsibilities for R&D and IP Management, and subsequently for Custom Synthesis, Biotechnology and Drug Device Combination Products. In 2012 her focus moved to technical and regulatory fields around injectable biotherapeutics like monoclonal antibodies. Since 2018 she supports the full technical development, regulatory market strategy (CE certification) and customer activities of an innovative autoinjector for biotherapeutics.
In 2024 she was appointed Head of Innovation of Midas Pharma at the Switzerland Innovation Park, Basel, CH.
