Michael Maust Noxilizer, Inc. Laboratory Manager for Customer Projects
Michael Maust is the Laboratory Manager for Customer Projects at Noxilizer, Inc., where he leads a team of scientists focused on initial feasibility studies, sterilization cycle development, and validation using Nitrogen Dioxide (NO₂) sterilization technology. Since joining Noxilizer in 2008 as a Microbiologist, Michael has contributed extensively to the advancement of NO₂ sterilization science.
Early in his career at Noxilizer, Michael played a key role in nitrogen dioxide resistance screening for Geobacillus stearothermophilus and various other bacterial and fungal organisms, laying the groundwork for Noxilizer’s Most Resistant Organism (MRO) testing. He was also involved in the development of the company’s proprietary colorimetric assay for detecting nitrate and nitrite residuals. His experience includes biological indicator development, D-value determination, and material and device compatibility testing with NO₂.
In his current role, Michael also serves as a subject matter expert, supporting Noxilizer’s commercial and sales teams as well as customers across the pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device industries.
Michael holds an A.A. in General Studies – Science Emphasis from Howard Community College and a B.S. in Biological Sciences from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). He is an active member of the Parenteral Drug Association (PDA) and participates in the Capital Area chapter.
He resides in Laurel, Maryland with his father and four beloved dogs—Heidi, Nouchka, A.J., and Lucy.
