PDA’s first technical report of 2017 offers
the latest best practices on blow-fill-seal
(BFS) technology. Technical Report No. 77:
The Manufacture of Sterile Pharmaceutical
Products Using Blow-Fill-Seal Technology
features practical considerations for companies
using this technology as a replacement
for standard fill-finish practices.
PDA worked closely with the BFS
International Operators Association (BFS
IOA) to develop this document.
BFS refers to technology that integrates
plastic blow molding and aseptic filling on
a single machine with the final container
being created within the machine just
prior to aseptic filling. The final container
is then hermetically sealed immediately
after filling in one continuous operation.
