The Council is a federal authority created by Law 2800/95. Acting in the State of São Paulo, its function is to supervise the work of professionals and companies in the area of chemistry. 

The main objective of the Council is to prevent society from being harmed by the manufacture of products and the performance of services in the field of chemistry by clandestine undertakings or by persons deprived of technical and scientific knowledge. To do this, it maintains a body of inspectors who visit companies from all over the state of São Paulo to verify if the private activities of chemistry professionals are actually being performed by qualified personnel.
