Ask a Question

Within our industry, there is a historical lack of standard test methods for evaluating particle loads in packaging components which has confounded efforts to reduce particles. The methods defined in the new PDA Technical Report No. 85 (TR-85): Enhanced Test Methods for Visible Particle Detection and Enumeration on Elastomeric Closures and Glass Containers will allow all suppliers and pharmaceutical companies to discuss and compare particle data in a fair and meaningful manner. The adoption of standard test methods is an enabling step for having substantive discussions between suppliers and customers for defining viable and relevant specifications for particulate. This training course provides the training required to adopt the loose particle test method detailed in TR-85 which allows for differentiation between fibers (>300um) and particles (>100um) and also gives a primer on the required statistics to qualify the method within your own organization.

Upon completion of this training course, the attendee will be able to:

  1. Understanding the importance of monitoring/controlling particulate contamination
  2. Understanding TR-85 and the method for Elastomeric components
  3. Set up and use of required lab equipment
  4. Perform proper particle and fiber counting technique
  5. Utilize statistics for evaluation of results and qualification strategy
