Kenneth Latta Gates Healthcare Associates, Inc.
Kenneth Latta is a nationally recognized expert in compounding pharmacy management, clean room design and pain management. He has written and taught extensively on these topics.
In 1977, a year before Mr. Latta graduated with a bachelor's degree from the University of North Carolina School of Pharmacy, he began work at Duke University Medical Center as a technician in the IV room. Mr. Latta was a staff pharmacist from 1978 through 1989. He then became the lead pharmacist on the Duke Acute Pain Service, a position he would hold until 2000. During this time he served on several national committees with the American Pain Society. In 2000, he became manager of the Duke Compounding Facility, where Mr. Latta's many accomplishments included designing, overseeing construction, and launching operations for a standard-setting compounding facility until his retirement in 2013. His expertise includes process design and validation.
In 2006, Mr. Latta became involved with the Pharmacy Compounding Accreditation Board as a member of the Standards Committee and a Surveyor. With these roles he joined in establishing national standards for the compounding profession and accreditation processes. He is still actively involved in this endeavor.
Since 2004, Mr. Latta has assisted in developing, researching, writing and teaching several ACPE-accredited programs in non-sterile and sterile compounding with Medisca Network.
Mr. Latta currently serves as a consultant to the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy.
